Heavier than expected, in a good way
I have a 7-quart dutch oven that has warped two bamboo trivets. This one doesn't flex, doesn't slide, and the ribs actually keep the heat off the table. The hanging loop is a nice touch.

The Ember trivet is cast in a single piece of iron with a deep ribbed profile that lifts hot cookware off your counters and table. The ribs channel heat away fast, and the matte black finish hides the scuffs of daily use.
Rubber feet keep it from sliding on stone or wood, and the hanging loop means it lives on a hook when it is off duty. It is the kind of object you buy once and stop thinking about.

Solid and stable under a full kettle. After a month the matte finish shows a couple of shiny spots where the pot sits, which I don't mind, but worth knowing if you want it pristine.
One lives by the stove, one on the dinner table. Rubber feet mean no more towel-under-the-pot routine on our oak table.
Six matte ceramic spice jars with bamboo lids and a spoon that finally lives where the spices do.
Three nesting stoneware bowls heavy enough to stay put while you whisk with one hand.
A 40 cm walnut strip with hidden magnets strong enough for a cleaver, gentle enough for carbon steel.
